Angles

To denote an angle, first enter the Angle indicator (dots 1246 dots 246) followed by the appropriate argument for naming the angle.

There is one symbol that is not noted in Nemeth, but is supported by the equation editor. That is the symbol for a spherical angle. The symbol does not exist in Nemeth because it is a combination of several different symbols in print which create the desired shape.

There are several angle notations which you cannot type on the braille terminal at present due to conflicts with preexisting symbols. These are:

  • Measured Angle (not to be confused with “angle measure”)
  • Right angle
  • Spherical Angle
  • Angle Measure

However, these symbols are able to be entered through the palette without issue.

Exercises

Type the following expressions into the equation editor below and verify that the equation editor produces the proper Nemeth braille output in each case. Also verify that a sighted friend can read each expression you have typed as it is displayed on the screen.

  • Angle a
  • 90 degrees
  • Angle q + angle m = 90 degrees
  • Measure of Angle q = 45 degrees
  • Spherical Angle t = 90 degrees
