13 Guidelines

  • Captions (Live): Are you providing real time captions for all live media that includes audio? (Success Criterion 1.2.4 – Level AA)
  • Audio Description (Prerecorded): Are you providing a prerecorded audio description about what is happening visually in all prerecorded video content? (Success Criterion 1.2.5 – Level AA)
  • Contrast (Minimum): Is there sufficient contrast between the text or images of text and the background? (Success Criterion 1.4.3 – Level AA)
  • Resize Text: Can users resize text up to 200% without the use of assistive technology and not affect content and functionality? (Success Criterion 1.4.4 – Level AA)
  • Images of Text: Are you avoiding the use of images of text? (Success Criterion 1.4.5 – Level AA)
  • Multiple Ways: Does your website or application provide users with multiple ways to navigate to the site or applications individual content pages? (Success Criterion 2.4.5 – Level AA)
  • Headings and Labels: Does your website or application use clear headings and labels that provide meaning and organization? (Success Criterion 2.4.6 – Level AA)
  • Focus Visible: Does your website or application provide a visual focus indicator when navigating through content using the keyboard? (Success Criterion 2.4.7 – Level AA)
  • Language of Parts: If content on a page switches from one language to another language for a section, is that section’s language properly identified in the code? (Success Criterion 3.1.2 – Level AA)
  • Consistent Navigation: In your site or application, are you using consistent navigational structure and layout across all pages? (Success Criterion 3.2.3 – Level AA)
  • Consistent Identification: Do you provide consistent labels and alternative text for like / repetitive components on your site or application? (Success Criterion 3.2.4 – Level AA)
  • Error Suggestion: If an input error occurs in your website/application, do you provide input error correction suggestions to the user, if suggestions are known? (Success Criterion 3.3.3 – Level AA)
  • Error Prevention (Legal, Financial, Data): In your site or application, do you provide a way for a user to reverse a submission, correct input errors, or confirm data before final submission of legal, financial, or data (test response data)? (Success Criterion 3.3.4 – Level AA)
